Numbing Down to Nothing

If I were to try again

I’d leave out parts of what I said

If you were to write again

Be sure to see your letter’s sent

I find myself winding down this road again

Can’t keep myself away from something I know that’s bad

A senseless approach to my emotional needs

I’m playing dumb – when will I feel numb

If I were to try again

I’d leave out parts of what I said

If you were to write again

Be sure to see your letter’s sent

I look for signs in anything I can

Hoping that something stops me before I get there

(But) I don’t know that I’ll see what’s right in front of me

I’m playing dumb – or now I’m numb

I always fight with why

I try to reason

And I come back to this

Right where we left it

If I were to try again

I’d leave out parts of what I said

If you were to write again

Be sure to see your letter’s sent

The traffic’s stopping on the road ahead

I tell myself to not read into this

It’s not a sign to tell me turn back around while you can

I’m still playing dumb – I’m past feeling numb

If I were to try again

I’d leave out parts of what I said

If you were to write again

Be sure to see your letter’s sent

If you were to try again

Please leave out parts of what you said

If I were to write again

I’ll be sure to see my letter’s sent
